Thomas Schönfeld

Welcome, I am a musician, brass teacher, and producer working across different Musical genres and formats. I release my own albums, perform live, and support artists in developing their sound and musical identity. Alongside my artistic work, I teach music and offer Ableton Live workshops ,focusing on creative Workflow, production and sound design. I also work in my own studio providing production, mixing and mastering services. This website offers an overview of my musical projects, collaborations and educational work.

In April 2026, we came together almost by accident. A band was unable to perform that night due to a scheduling mix-up, so suddenly it was just bass guitar, drums, and trumpet sharing the stage. At the time, I was deeply exploring what happens when you stop trying to force music and start listening to it instead. Presence rather than concept. Receiving rather than asserting. The bassist didn't simply play the bass as a bass. Again and again, it became a guitar. His intricate, restless melodic lines seemed to flow endlessly—full of ideas, constantly searching for the next direction. That continuous stream created a striking contrast to my long, breathy trumpet tones and the few deliberately placed notes. Between them, the drums framed the music with intricate grooves, brushes, and delicate cymbal textures, creating an open space without ever forcing the music into a fixed shape. For me, it was my first performance after more than a year away from the stage. There was no plan and no repertoire. Just an inner urge to make a musical statement again and to trust the moment. What emerged that evening was neither prepared nor repeatable. This album is a document of that encounter.Max Wutzler - Bassguitar
Gero Dumrath - Drums

Music for reflection, emotion, and quiet moments.Solo trumpet and atmospheric soundscapes for churches, personal gatherings, concerts, commemorations, and farewells. The music invites you to pause, to feel, and to find stillness for a moment.Amidst tranquility, hope, and resonance, a space opens up for that which words often cannot reach.

WINDOWLICKER w/ SCHÖNFELD at HOLZKISTE

After a short creative break of one year, I'm returning to the world of beats and fiddly, melodically interwoven sounds.
I perform live with Digitakt and two synthesizers. I love starting with my compositions and continually modifying them through joyfully playful improvisation, ultimately creating completely different beats. I find this an exciting, always-changing journey, and I take the listener along on it. I classify my beats as electronic chamber music ,abstract hip-hop instrumentals and Cosmic. Hints of improvised and experimental music can always be detected. I use my music to express social and political contexts and advocate for a rethinking toward a common good-oriented and non-violent society, and many elements can be found in my music.
